Smoothie Adventures

I’ve been on a smoothie kick the last week or two. Here’s a couple of my favorites.

The first is from the blog “Joy the Baker.” It’s a kale, spinach and pear smoothie. You can find the recipe at: http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/01/kale-spinach-and-pear-smoothie/
I found that the kale didn’t blend very well when I tried to make it, but I think that was because I didn’t blend it at a high enough speed. Despite that, It tasted quite good. The texture was a bit funny due to my lack of blending skills, but I thought it was an excellent and way to add more leafy greens into my daily routine.

The second smoothie I must mention is from my friend Jess’s blog “A Fete for Food.” You can find her recipe for “Smoothie Breakfast Soup” at http://www.afeteforfood.com/2011/01/smoothie-breakfast-soup.html. I forgot to take a photo of this one, but it was so good. I cut the portions in half since her recipe is for 2 and I was only making it for myself. I was surprised (and pleased) by how much I could taste the peanut butter throughout even though I had only used half a tablespoon. I also took her suggestion of trying some different fruits in the smoothie, and when I made it a second time, I added some frozen mango. This is a great versatile recipe and is becoming a weekly staple for me. Hope you enjoy the recipes (if anyone besides my boyfriend is reading this).
